Lifelogging applications and the GDPR

Law students analyse TekLab students’ prototypes

When

8. June.

Time: 14:00 - 14:45

What

Join us and hear law students analyse experimental lifelogging prototypes that collect and process personal data. Can such prototypes ever be made GDPR compliant?

From 2021 the Faculty of Law at the University of Bergen has offered a project-based course called Privacy and Data protection - GDPR. At this course law students analyse innovative and often challenging prototypes developed by students at a course called Media Technology: Theory and development in Media City Bergen. The law students' aim is to assess whether those prototypes are GDPR compliant. If they are not, the question is how the emerging technology may be adjusted to meet the requirements set by law. This year the Norwegian and exchange law students have analysed two lifelogging applications that collect and process enormous amounts of personal data.
