The future is wireless - 5G and emerging technologies

When

27. September.

Time: 08:30 - 10:00

What

5G is expected to open up completely new opportunities for many industries. Not least this also applies to the media industry, where technology is now being tested and explored. 5G is something more than just faster 4G, says one of our speakers during this breakfast seminar. The opportunities that lie in the 5G networks are seen with particular interest in the production environments. Although the possibilities are many, 5G is still quite in the making and a number of questions and conditions remain unanswered and unresolved.

5G - more than faster 4G - Bård Myhre, researcher SINTEF

5G is admittedly a continuation of 4G, but also much more. In this lecture, Bård Myhre from SINTEF will tell what opportunities 5G technology opens up for, why established truths about "mobile technology" are now falling, and what this will mean for players in, among other things, industry, transport and media.

5G in private networks - Robust remote production - Erik Vold and Bodil Moldskred (NRK)
NRK is well underway with strategies and exploration around 5G. Last week, NRK carried out for the first time a remote multi-camera production over 5G with similar properties as a wired network. We hear the first experiences and the advantages of being able to set up productions via a private, dedicated network like this.

A battle for new 5G frequencies - Espen Slette, fagsjef Spektrumsavdelingen - Nasjonal kommunikasjonsmyndighet
When this 5G breakfast event takes place, a national auction will open for new frequency ranges for 5G in Norway. The national communications authority will talk about what these new frequency ranges have to say for the media industry. Will broadcasters and others be able to get what they want or not?

This event is a part of the Media City Bergen Future Week, 27 September - 1 October. 50+ events will be taking place inside the Media City Bergen building, Oslo and Stavanger - all focused on topics that challenge our common future as it is driven and shaped by technology.
